About Tollefson Builders

Beginning in 1977, Tollefson Builders was built on the foundation of a successful blend of qualities. In a Tollefson Builder’s project, style and quality craftsmanship stand side-by-side with efficiency and cost containment. Over the years we have formed a wide, varied and highly satisfied customer base. The business has catered mainly to residential clients, but includes business owners and local government. In addition to building a number of fine homes and restaurants in East Jefferson County, we have renovated major sections of the historic Jefferson County Courthouse (a job which included converting the original jail into government office space), and built a large addition to the First Presbyterian Church in Port Townsend. Tollefson Builders also restored the original bell towers of the courthouse and the church as well as the bell tower in the historic Sequim school house. Tollefson Builders has upgraded most of the community centers in the county, built a fire hall, and constructed or upgraded a number of commercial establishments in the area.

Perhaps arching over all the qualities that characterize our projects is the sincere desire on our part for open communication and good working relationships among all involved parties. Our projects tend to involve intricate detail and a high degree of fit and finish, and we can figure out to make it all work – a result of our construction expertise as well as our ability to be an effective intermediary between the client, the architect and the subcontractors. We are fully aware of how much clients are investing, financially and emotionally, in the creation of their dream home. We are there to make this complex and highly stressful process run as smoothly as possible, by being available to the client throughout, and by facilitating communication between all those involved. We support our clients through all the decision-making phases of a custom project and make suggestions wherever we can to improve the end product. In addition to building custom homes, we have begun to include remodeling and repair and maintenance to the mix of our offerings. From replacement of doors and windows to intricate repairs of leaking walls and roofs to a complete remodel of an existing home, we bring the same attention to detail and communication with our clients that have been the mainstay of our business.

Our talented crew of on-site supervisors and carpenters share our belief that the process of building is as important as the end product.
